The 2016 wedding season has started in great style for me with a wedding event at Coventry Connexion!
This sports and leisure complex in Ryton on Dunsmore - just outside Coventry and off the A45 - hides away two superb Marquees plus a further two function rooms that are amazing wedding reception/supper venues. I've had the pleasure of playing there a few times and seen some very satisfied customers.
This particular event was an Asian Wedding and I was performing with my talented colleagues, Juggy Rihal on Tablas and Tony Shepherd on Cajon.
Ours was a lively, contemporary sound to welcome guests into the marquee for their drinks, canapes and to be seated in the glittering main area; an enjoyable session played for some very knowledgeable guests who certainly knew a thing or two about music.
Once we were finished and the guests were inside, it was time for the bride and groom to enter with a traditional flourish - accompanied by two excellent dhol drummers who gave it their all and set the party fuse alight.
It was time for us to break down our pa and carefully vacate the area - leaving guests and couple to celebrate. Job well done!
Juggy, Tony and myself can usually be found performing with Wayne Matthews as the world music ensemble, Fine Lines Music. Our recent live performance at the Albany Theatre is covered in another blog.
This unusual but lively combination can be exactly right for wedding couples who want something a little different on their big day.
